A record?

Ok, so I am currently blogging from 4000m up in the remote mountains of China, in a Tibetan village in Gansu province. Its difficult to sum up the highlights of the trip so far.

Xiahe was amazing. Its a monastry town with 50% tibetan, 30% han chinese and 20% muslim people. Just walking round the streets was amazing- a mixture of nomads, monks and people in tibetan dress. Truly unique. I had the wonderful experience of being invited to eat bread and drink yak butter tea with two old tibetan women who didn't speak any chinese. Moments like that can never be repeated.

Now, I'm in a small village which has towering mountains all around. Its cold but so beautiful. I ate a yak burger today- definately the best burger I ever tasted. Tomorrow we are off hiking into the mountains, and although I don't feel comfortable visiting it, we will have to pass a sky burial site.

I'm sure all this will be written about in more detail with pictures added at a later date but I just wanted to keep you informed and reading!

Zaijian,

Emma.
